Sliding Shower Doors

Sliding shower doors are a mainstay in many of the bathrooms we supply. They are a great space-saving solution since the door itself doesn't open outwards into the bathroom as you'd find with a conventional hinged door. We're seeing more and more shower sliding doors that include quick-release bottom runners. Essentially this means at the press of a button you can lift the door itself away from the bottom track, allowing easy access for cleaning in the spots that would typically be very hard to reach.

You'll also find many include easy-clean glass - a special coating applied to the door during the manufacturing process which effectively creates an ultra-smooth surface (even glass has pores!) so that dirt, grime and bacteria find it much more difficult to build up on the glass. These shower doors can still be cleaned with a simple vinegar and water solution, but easy clean glass will make the process a lot easier.

You'll also want to consider the thickness of glass. Sliding door showers can be 4, 5, 6, 8 or even 10mm thick, with prices being loosely related.

This figure shows you how thick the glass in your mirror, shower enclosure or doors will be. Thicker glass will often be more robust, which helps it last longer.

Maximum Adjustment

Sometimes one or two walls in the space you are planning on installing a shower door or enclosure may be ‘out of true’ or not perfectly straight. The maximum adjustment measurement indicates the highest ‘give’ a shower door or enclosure has to achieve a perfect fit.

Minimum Adjustment

Sometimes one or two walls in the space you are planning on installing a shower door or enclosure may be ‘out of true’ or not perfectly straight. The minimum adjustment measurement indicates the lowest ‘give’ a shower door or enclosure has to achieve a perfect fit.
