The new ‘Help to Buy‘ Mortgage scheme launched today by the UK government has created an increase in confidence in the UK housing market. For first time buyers wanting to get their foot on the property ladder the struggle to finding a deposit could be a thing of the past. The help to buy scheme is due to stimulate an influx of opportunities for more than a million potential home buyers cutting the average first-time buyer deposit from £33,948 to £7,218 (Figures according to Santander).
With applications for help to buy mortgages commencing today and mortgages due for release on new year’s day 2014, first time buyers can now put as little as a 5% deposit down on any property under £600,000 be it a new build or pre-loved home. With house prices set to rise, many first time home buyers are predicted to go for the DIY ROI option and buy an older property they can renovate with the money they save on their deposit.
Home renovations can add significant value to a home and in the long run be a great investment should you choose to sell up. The two rooms that tend to take priority when it comes to home renovations is the kitchen and bathroom, with the bathroom being one of the most profitable home improvement projects. As far as bathroom improvement projects go, you could go all out and do a total renovation with new decor and a new complete bathroom suite, or you could do a simple upgrade, which is much less expensive.
The bathroom trend for 2013 is minimalism. At Drench we believe that every home owner should be able to have the beautiful bathroom they desire at a price they can afford.
